Los Angeles Second Only to San Francisco in Luxury Home Sales

Luxury Home Sales up in Los Angeles

Edged out only by our neighbors to the North, Los Angeles tallied 2170 million-dollar-plus home sales between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.

Claiming the top spot with 2485 million-dollar-plus home sales was San Francisco, while New York, San Jose, and Houston rounded out the top five with 2145, 1119, and 981 sales, respectively.

These figures, which were released in the 2014 Coldwell Banker Previews International Luxury Market Report, support an upward trend in luxury home listings and sales. According to the report, home sales in this bracket were up by double digits in four of the top five cities, with the only exception being New York.

With 48% of penta-millionaires (those individuals with a net worth of at least $5 million) expressing plans to buy a luxury home in the coming year, it looks as though this trend will continue for some time.
